I do wonder if the word "maximum" at that point means only to something like level ~5 (which I had) or something and not actually maximum like in the quest "endgame". But I was not going to waste time doing (read: more than I needed) to find out. The Kingmaker slides were so good. I haven't seen an ending slide drop off like this since New Vegas went to Fallout 4. Nearly every side quest has no slide. The few side quest slides that we do have mostly have them for the "bad" outcome--so you never see them at all.

My brain is hurting from trying to figure out this quest. It's probably the only one in the game I have flat out not enjoyed. Does anyone know of a guide for it? I've looked around and haven't found much.

I liked the option. As other people have said, it makes roughly a 1-2 level difference late game. And the extra sellable loot helps with a lot of things.
